Simon Fielding OBE

After graduating as an Osteopath in 1979 Simon embarked on a clinical Osteopathic and academic career. He combined this with an early interest in research by working at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the medical electronics department researching the effects of physical interventions and the electro-conductivity of tissues and their response to inflammation. He lectured in physiology and osteopathic medicine at undergraduate and postgraduate levels both in the UK and abroad. In addition he taught osteopathic medicine in the post-graduate medical department at the University of Paris.

His clinical career came to an abrupt end when he was forced to retire due to injuries sustained in a violent assault. Simon sought to rebuild his career and devoted much of his time in an honorary capacity to achieving the statutory recognition of the Osteopathic profession. He was appointed as a Specialist Advisor to the UK Department of Health and also pursued his teaching and academic interests. He joined the Academic Advisory Board of Exeter University and became an external MSc examiner at the University of Westminster. He also served as a founder member of the Royal College of General Practitioners Commission on Primary Care and in 1996 he was appointed by Ministers as founder chairman of the The General Osteopathic Council.

Simon pursues a number of charitable interests. He is a longstanding trustee of the Prince of Wales’ Foundation for Integrated Health and is a member of Council of the newly established College of Medicine.

Kathryn Ellson

Kathryn obtained a Degree in Computer Science from the University of Westminster, London in 1991 and has spent 20 years working in the Software Industry, the last 12 years of which have been as a Systems Management Consultant to the Banking Sector for IBM.

Kathryn is a chronic back pain sufferer herself who, in March 2010, underwent the Endoscopic Lumbar Foraminoplasty procedure using laser, pioneered by Mr Knight, and has made an excellent recovery after many years of pain and disability.

The Spinal Foundation is Kathryn's main charitable interest, where she is involved in the campaign to get the procedure recognised by NICE, as a patient representative and also with website updates and fund raising.

Kay Wesley

Kay Wesley leads CMG’s digital agency, Complete Digital, and also works across all of the CMG agencies to lead the strategy and delivery of integrated digital communications for clients. Kay’s career has spanned several industries (with a total of 16 years in the pharmaceutical industry) and has included strategy, marketing, branding, public relations, global meeting management and integrated communications at global and local levels.

Kay has more than 10 years’ interactive marketing experience, including 5 years as Global Director of eMarketing at AstraZeneca. Kay has extensive therapy area experience, and has been responsible for a number of therapy area portals such as incirculation.net, gastrosource.com, cancerline.com and breastcancersource.com, as well as e-detailing, e-learning, online relationship campaigns and online brand reach campaigns. Kay advises on Communications for the Spinal Foundation.
