I met with Martin Knight on Friday the 4th June for an assessment and recommendations. I was impressed with his approach which is to say he is a kind human being who takes the time to get to know you, he is not limited by time (as we all experience with our GP's and specialists) and he is holistic when looking at the individual. He exceeded all my expectations and I am so happy to have finally been given some time and attention for my back problems. I've been made to feel like a psychosomatic and I've been told that I should not experience the level of pain I had given that I had no problems with my back (according to a scan which confirmed a prolapsed disc but the Surgeon said it was not an issue to resolve). I'm on medication including morphine, I have days I can hardly walk and I suffer with depression most times although I'm a great actress and I don't show these traits when with friends or colleagues. My partner has supported me 100% but I'm sure there are days he feels depressed himself at not being to help me or provide any solution. All I want in life is to be able to do "normal things", to go for walks, to travel, to get on my bike and enjoy the countryside, to have normal relationship activities with my partner etc. I am too young to let this situation take control of my body and life. Martin is a sympathetic man, he is funny, he speaks French (I am French Canadian so enjoyed conversing in my native tongue), he involved my partner through the process and so we were made to feel totally welcomed. At this point, I hope I can secure finances to get my surgery done, I don't care about increased debt as long as I get my health back. Thank you Martin from the bottom of my heart! I hope this is only the first of many more sessions including surgery. Merci du fonds de mon coeur :-)
