Private Treatment

If you would like to visit us as a Private Patient then this is our procedure:

  1. We prefer that you ask for a referral letter from your General Practitioner, Chartered Physiotherapist, Osteopath or Chiropractor. This will summarise your history and append related letters and state that you are being referred as a Private Patient. However, the GP referral is no longer obligatory.
  2. The manner of your referral is important however, should you wish your General Practitioner to support your subsequent referral as a NHS Patient. If this is the case we recommend that you discuss the referral with your GP and explain your reasons for the request.  You may care to take information about the Spinal Foundation to the surgery as not all GPs are aware of our service.
  3. Once we receive your referral letter, we will contact you to arrange an appointment for your consultation and the arrangements to carry out our special weight-bearing spinal X-rays studies. In most cases you will already have had an MRI scan.  Please secure a copy of the scan as well as the Radiologist's report for which you may have to pay a copy fee and bring this with you to the consultation.
  4. We will send you specific questionnaires referring to the history of your complaint and the way in which your life style has been degraded and those functions which are limited. These you must complete and bring with you to the consultation.
  5. The Questionnaires are essential to patient selection and treatment planning and outcome analysis.
  6. Please complete our Patient Details Form and email it to jago@spinal-foundation.org and print it out and bring it with you to your consultation.
  7. If you need to contact us then please phone Jenny Jago on 01580 388 310.
  8. Directions to the Spinal Foundation at Fawkham Manor Hospital in Longfield, Kent or the McIndoe Surgical Centre in East Grinstead are to be found on our "Contact Us" page.
