10 Years Later Adrian Bradley

I first had pain and discomfort from my back in 1991 when I was just 21. After nearly a year and a half of visits to my Doctor and varied pain killers and anti informatory tablets I was referred to hospital which didn't result in any conclusions only a nasty epidural injection which only had an effect for a few hours.

Over the years the pain became so bad I had to completely stop working. I was a landscape gardener at the time but by now I couldn't even put my socks and shoes on in the morning.

I was eventually referred to Dr Martin Knight at The Spinal Foundation, at the time in Rochdale, who after a consultation very little time and with absolute kindness, consideration and professionalism operated on me (ELF) in July 1997. I was awake but sedated through the procedure which really wasn't that bad.

The following morning when I woke at the hospital I couldn't believe how much difference it had made so soon. I could lift my left leg up in front of me which I hadn't been able to for some time, and I managed to put my socks on relatively comfortably. I went home that day after a brief visit to a Physio at the hospital who told me what to and what not to do, and who made an appointment for me to return to the hospital at varied intervals over the following 12 months during which time I went back to work and started to live again, happier and healthier than I had for some time.

Shortly after I took my HGV class 1 and became a truck driver which I had wanted to do since I was a child.
To keep fit I joined a gym at home and at towns I regularly visited in my truck training both with weights and cardiovascular exercise.
Last year I trained 4 days a week for 1 to 2 hours doing martial discipline.

This year I have started driving trucks on the continent and I am in the best shape of my life both physically and mentally thanks to Martin Knight and The Spinal Foundation.
